Extended School Closure Preparation

Dear Families,

We hope you are staying safe and well!  We want to update you with our plans for student learning in the event of an extended school closure:

  • We are asking students NOW to take their My Math books and Grammar Workshop books home every day, and bring them back every day, so that the books are in student backpacks at home if school is closed.

ONLINE LEARNING:
  • We will provide daily lesson assignments for students through Google Classroom.
    • Students will need to check their ELA, Math, and Homeroom pages for assignments.

    • For Math - Students will be able to access their Kahn Academy and Scootpad accounts through links in Google Classroom - they should also have their My Math Textbooks in their backpacks every day.

    • For Language Arts - Students will be able to access their Benchmark Advance, Readworks, and Time For Kids materials through Google Classroom - they should also have their Grammar Workshop textbook in their backpacks every day.

  • LAUSD Schoology will provide access to the My Math, Benchmark Advance, and Social Studies textbooks.  Additionally, students can see their grades in Schoology by searching “LAUSD Schoology login” and logging in with their lausd.mymail account and password, and clicking on “Courses”.

    • Please have your student go online now - before any closure - to verify that they have access from home to:
        • Google Classroom
        • Scootpad
        • Kahn Academy
        • LAUSD Schoology

Please email us with any problems you may experience.
We are hoping that our students and their families remain healthy, happy, and engaged during this difficult time in our world. Thank you for your support.

Warm regards,
Your 5th Grade Teachers
