5th Grade School Supply List
Distance Learning ONLY Model
Supplies for at Home:
Chromebook (supplied by school)
Earbuds or headphones
Small whiteboard and eraser
3 Composition style notebooks (different colors)
3 Folders with pockets - no brads (different colors - plastic lasts longer)
2 Jumbo book covers (for health and science textbooks supplied by school)
1 package college ruled notebook paper (for skill assignments)
1 package white printer paper (for art projects)
1 Reading book - late 4th or early 5th grade level
Zippered pencil pouch or small plastic pencil box containing:
5 Sharpened #2 Pencils (or mechanical pencils) - refill as necessary
2 Erasers - pink or white
1 hand held pencil sharpener with shavings receptacle
2 glue sticks
3 INK pens for correcting ( red/green/blue - Please NO Black)
SUPPLY BOX - Used for Science, Social Studies, Art, and Health
1 plastic 6-quart plastic box containing:
Another hand held sharpener with shavings receptacle for colored pencils
1 package colored pencils (24 count) used daily in all subjects
1 package Crayola Thick markers (10 count)
1 package Crayola THIN markers (10 count)
2 thin EXPO white board markers
2 BLACK FINE POINT –Permanent (Sharpie) markers
2 ULTRA FINE POINT– Permanent (Sharpie) markers
1 Ruler - see through with both inches and centimeters marked
1 Student Scissor

Additional Supplies to Keep at School (NO SHARING ALLOWED):
- 1 set of EAR BUDS for use with a Chromebook - in a ziplock bag - labeled with the student’s name
A towel, labeled with student name for sitting outside, to be kept in backpack.
Students should bring their pencil pouch, 3 composition notebooks, 3 folders to school every day they attend.
Students will need another 6 quart box with the same supplies as above, to leave at school. Total of 2 boxes (one for home and one for school)
NOTE: Three ring binders or accordion-style binders are NOT required in fifth grade

Extended School Closure Preparation
- We will continue to communicate with parents through email at Haynes5thgrade@gmail.com
- We are asking students NOW to take their My Math books and Grammar Workshop books home every day, and bring them back every day, so that the books are in student backpacks at home if school is closed.
- We will provide daily lesson assignments for students through Google Classroom.
- Students will need to check their ELA, Math, and Homeroom pages for assignments.
- For Math - Students will be able to access their Kahn Academy and Scootpad accounts through links in Google Classroom - they should also have their My Math Textbooks in their backpacks every day.
- For Language Arts - Students will be able to access their Benchmark Advance, Readworks, and Time For Kids materials through Google Classroom - they should also have their Grammar Workshop textbook in their backpacks every day.
- LAUSD Schoology will provide access to the My Math, Benchmark Advance, and Social Studies textbooks. Additionally, students can see their grades in Schoology by searching “LAUSD Schoology login” and logging in with their lausd.mymail account and password, and clicking on “Courses”.
- Please have your student go online now - before any closure - to verify that they have access from home to:
